Added 2020-11-18 21:14:42 +0000 UTCCamping in Death Valley was actually my favorite camping experience of the trip. We were able to tent camp with lovely (windless) chilly, desert night air. Though we were in a designated camping spot, we found a very remote place to set up. It was also our only camp spot of the trip that we were allowed a fire, which really completes the camping experience (especially when the sun sets so early). We forewent shooting at sunset, so we could properly acclimate ourselves / find a good spot to sleep. We had no service, and no map, so we wanted to give ourselves plenty of time in daylight. We ended up posting up near the sand dunes to make for an easier morning (sunrise shoot). We leisurely cooked dinner, had tea by the fire, then smoked a j and giggled ourselves to sleep. We awoke to some creepy (animal?) noises (maybe a ram — though doesn’t make sense for our general location) and were on high alert for about 45 min-1 hour. We also crossed paths with a fox, and heard some pretty loud sniffing outside the tent. Luckily, we fell back asleep and slept til dawn.
