Added 2020-11-20 22:22:46 +0000 UTCEmma Fact: Ever since I got sick in my early 20s I developed an intense fear of heights, that I never had prior. I have done so much work around getting my body to actually activate my parasympathetic mode and get outta fight or flight (biochemical supplementing, trauma healing, breath work, shamanism, acupuncture, etc). And while I’ve never worked on this fear in particular, I no longer have an anxiety disorder. But, chronic illness does a number on your neurological system, and re-wiring your brain takes time! Fear rarely holds me back, and I’m pretty committed to getting what I want—so, when I saw this perfectly sculpted rock, I wanted to shoot in it. I know it doesn’t look super high off the ground, but combining my fear of heights with the unforgiving texture of these rocks in Alabama Hills (you can’t tell, but literally so coarse, one wrong move will rip you up), *and* the wind... I was freaking terrified. Eventually I’ll show y’all the shot we got once edited, but here is the very embarrassing BTS. Thank god that my friend not only doubles as a photographer, but a pretty stellar coach. ;)
